THE ESCAPE ROUTE
"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." 1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV
One of the reasons we believers fall into temptation is because we are not sensitive to the escape routes God has provided before temptation comes. The scriptures tells us that temptation will certainly come but the Lord will not allow such that is more than what we can bare to come upon us, thereby providing an escape route whenever temptations comes.
"In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out with the king’s men and the whole Israelite army. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained in Jerusalem." 2 Samuel 11:1 NIV
Remember the story of David and Bathsheba, If David had led the army of Israel to war against the ammonites, he wouldn't have fallen into the temptation of adultery with Bathsheba, but he stayed back and idleness sets in, he opened himself up for temptation.
The devil brings temptation with the intention of making us fall, but God allows temptation to come our way with the intention that we overcome, the more we overcome temptations, the more God entrust us with deep secrets of the kingdom,powerful virtues and great responsibilities. But before temptation comes our way, there is already an escape route, there is already an opportunity to turn away from the trap the enemy has prepared for us.
Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”
Genesis 4:6-7 NIV
Before Cain committed murder, the Lord prewarmed him, He told him that sin desire to have him but he must rule over it. If only Cain has yielded to the Lord, he would've escaped from the plan of the devil, but he allowed sin to have a root in his heart and allowed hatred towards his brother to burn in his heart.
Beloved, let us be sensitive to the escape route that the Lord has promised to provide whenever temptation arises, and I pray the grace to take this escape route to overcome everything pranks of the enemy, the Lord will grant us in Jesus Name.
