THE ARM OF FLESH

THE ARM OF FLESH

"...for by strength shall no man prevail." 1 Samuel 2:9 KJV

Trusting in the arm of flesh is a very big mistake many has made because it will surely fail. Many believers consciously or unconsciously have trusted in their strength, intelligence, connections, skills, ability, instincts etc, all these are very good but their are insufficient to grant you your heart desire. Many have trusted in these things while God is only watching and waiting until they will come to the realization that it is neither by power nor by might

"Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”  He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm." Mark 4:36‭-‬39 NIV

From the passage above, we could see Jesus was on a ship with His disciples and there arose a storm at the middle of the sea. I want you to see the fact that Jesus was present in the boat (although was asleep), and still, the storm arose, that you have Jesus doesn't mean storm will not come, at that moment, I believe the disciples would be battling with this storm, trying everything they could to save themselves, throwing off the loads into the sea just to make the boat lighter, preventing it from sinking. But the more they tried, the more the storm rages, but when they woke up Jesus and cried unto him, He calmed the storm.

Many at times we depend so much on the arm of flesh, sometimes we think we can save ourselves from trouble, sometimes we trust so much in our intelligence and smartness, sometimes we trust so much in our prayers and ability to blast in tongues rather than trusting God that can calm every storm. Remember the word of God;

"I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all." Ecclesiastes 9:11 KJV

The race isn't to the swift and the battle not to the strong, everything is by time and chance, thank God we have a God that has power over time and chances, and He will turn time and chances in our favour, that's the lot of them that put their trust in the lord.

"When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”   “Woman,   why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.”  His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” John 2:3‭-‬5 NIV

This was the miracle of Jesus turning water to wine at the marriage ceremony at Cana in Galilee. At the moment the wine finished, the mother of Jesus called Him to help but Jesus said His time hasn't come, that was because the men were still doing all they can to solve the problem, they were still running about to see how they will get wine, they haven't given Jesus His place, so His time to perform his miracles hasn't come. But when the time came, water became wine, and the new wine was better than the old wine

Brethren, this devotional isn't accommodating laziness, God hates laziness. But it is encouraging us to surrender completely to God, let Jesus take the wheels, give him his place and you will be marvelled at how he turns things around for your good.

                    ..........GOD BLESS YOU
