THE MYSTERY OF ANSWERED PRAYERS SERIES (3)
AN UNFORGIVING HEART IS A 'NON-RECEIVING' HEART
Planting is very important but you have to first of all gather some information like seasons of planting, types of soil, effects of various fertilizers and manures, marketability of the desired crops in a particular location etc. This information is very crucial in order to have a productive planting season.
Likewise, prayer is very important but you have to be aware of the principles behind prayers that attracts God attention, in order to have quick answers to your prayers.
The purpose of this series is to reveal the truth behind the prayers that rise up to God as a sweet smelling incense, and as you continue in studying the series, the lord will open your eyes to see great mysteries of the kingdom of God in Jesus Name.
In this study, we will study the danger of unforgiveness to our prayers.
"And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” Mark 11:25 NIV
One of the conditions Jesus gave us as regards prayer is to forgive anyone that have offended us so that we might receive mercy from God. For our prayers to be answered, it requires the mercy of God. Mercy is not limited to forgiveness of sins, it is by God's mercy that we receive our request in prayer. It is God's mercy that will bring the attention of God to our supplications (out of all the inhabitants of the earth).
But mercy only comes to those that are merciful.
"Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy." Matthew 5:7 KJV
You have to be merciful unto others before God would be merciful unto you, you have to forgive others their trespasses before God will forgive yours. If you don't forgive others their trespasses, God will not forgive your own, and this will hinder you from receiving from God.
"For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
Matthew 6:14-15 KJV
Without God's mercy, prayers would be a futile effort. One of the characteristics of those the scripture classify as the wicked is unforgiveness. Those who refuse to forgive others their trespasses directly or indirectly belong to this category, because Jesus shed his blood for the atonement of our sins despite his guiltless nature.
From the word of God, we learnt that the sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination unto God, so also is the prayer of the wicked.
"The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord : but the prayer of the upright is his delight." Proverbs 15:8 KJV
"He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination." Proverbs 28:9 KJV
When a man turn away from the will of God (which includes forgiving others their trespasses), his prayer becomes an abomination unto God.
Beloved, unforgiveness is a great hindrance not just to our prayers but also to our relationship with God. It breaks the fellowship with God.
When you forgive, its not because the person deserve it but because you value your relationship with God. Start living a life of mercy/forgiveness from today and watch the mercy of God open doors for you.
..........GOD BLESS YOU
