THE MYSTERY OF ANSWERED PRAYERS SERIES (5)

LOVE; THE NATURE OF GOD

"If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal."
1 Corinthians 13:1 NIV

No matter how loud we pray, no matter which tongue we speak (of men or of angels), no matter how long we pray,  if we don't have love in us, our prayer is  just a loud noise, like hitting metallic plates (cymbals) together. A life without without love cannot enjoy answered prayers because such life doesn't know who God is.

"Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.  He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love." 1 John 4:7‭-‬8 KJV

A life that lack love, lack the nature of God. The sacrifice offered by such is noting but an abomination unto God.

"The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord : but the prayer of the upright is his delight." Proverbs 15:8 KJV

Jesus taught that whenever we want to give our offerings unto God, and remember an unsettled dispute and misunderstanding with our neighbour, He said we should keep the offering, go to our neighbour and make peace with him/her, then come back and give our offering to God, because He knows such offering will not be accepted by God except we make peace. If Jesus could say this about giving unto God, how much more receiving from Him.

"Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;   Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift."
Matthew 5:23‭-‬24 KJV

"And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” Mark 11:25 NIV

It takes a love to forgive. Out of love, God gave us His only son for the remission of our sins, that we might receive forgiveness. Therefore, it takes the heart of love and compassion to forgive and let go of all wrong done.

"Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen."1 John 4:20 NIV

Can we love God and hate our neighbour? Its impossible. When we have the spirit of love, it must show in our relationship with other brethren. We are expected to express love towards other brethren, and as we begin to show mercy and compassion unto others, God will show us mercy and compassion in the place of answering our prayers.

"If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?" 1 John 3:17 NIV

"Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?" James 2:15‭-‬16 NIV

Are you struggling to show love to you neighbours, why don't you call on Jesus to fill you with the Holy spirit, so He will pour the love of God into your heart.

"... because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us." Romans 5:5 KJV
