COMPONENTS OF UNFRUITFUL GIVING (1)
COMPONENTS OF UNFRUITFUL GIVING (1)
"Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again." Luke 6:38 KJV
The fact that whoever gives shall receive is true, but why many don't receive is because they do so either with the wrong motive or are ignorant of its principle. Every act of giving is a seed sown which will germinate and bear fruits to the sower only if the sower observe all the necessary steps involved in having a bountiful harvest.
There are three factors to consider while sowing a seed;
1. The sower
"The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord : but the prayer of the upright is his delight." Proverbs 15:8 KJV
The wicked is one who is walking in disobedience to God's word. For a seed sown to germinate and bare fruit unto the sower, the sower must be upright. The sacrifice of prayers, praises and even acts of giving from an unrighteous heart is an abomination unto God and cannot be accepted by God.
"Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift."
Matthew 5:23-24 KJV
Any sacrifice from a heart filled with unforgiveness, strife, malice, rebellion, anger cannot be accepted by God. Jesus clearly stated that such should go back and make peace before making offering unto God. If the sower is unworthy, the seed is unworthy
"Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9:7 KJV
Any seed sown grudgingly or of necessity cannot bring unto the sower the right harvest promised in the word of God. Giving out of necessity is more or less forcing yourself unto giving, and God seeing your heart wouldn't have respect on your offering like that of Cain, God is seeking a cheerful giver. One who gives with joy and gratitude to God. When you honour God with your offering, honour God indeed and do it cheerfully.
"Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth" Matthew 6:2-3 KJV
Hypocrisy is another destroyer of the Sower's harvest, when a kind gesture is done in hypocrisy (to be seen by men), such can not be accepted by God because the intention (to be seen by men) as been granted already. The intention of the sower really matters, when you offer to God to show off to men, you are not offering to God but unto men. Every good deed done in hypocrisy (for men to see and acknowledge you) is an unfruitful sacrifice.
