THE HOLYSPIRIT AND LOVE
" ... for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth ... " Genesis 8:21 KJV
Do you know it is impossible to have the love of God without the HOLYSPIRIT. God Himself confessed that the heart of man is evil, this is why a natural man will struggle to show perfect love towards his neighbour, though, they might try but it can never be perfect, it can easily be corrupted.
"And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us." Romans 5:5 KJV
This is a ministry of the Holyspirit that has been ignored by many, it is the Holyspirit that shed the love of God abroad in our hearts. A natural man cannot possess the perfect love of God, but to him that is regenerated and spirit filled, the Holyspirit begins to expand the love of God in our hearts. He teaches us How to be a perfect image of God, He remoulds us after God's likeness of love. There are manifestations of love that a natural man can never express.
"While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Then he fell on his knees and cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” When he had said this, he fell asleep." Acts 7:59-60 NIV
Stephen, being stoned at the point of death still made a request for God to show mercy on his killers. That is a great expression of love that can only be expressed by the help of the Holyspirit. While in pains, he asked God not to hold the sins of his killers against them, that is a mystery to a natural man. Countless of believers have open spiritual fire upon their fellow humans in prayer because they were hurt by them in one way or the other, but the scripture says;
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Ephesians 6:12 NIV
Even our lord Jesus Christ prayed for those crucifying Him, this is an Expression of love that a natural man sees as impossible. For us to possess God's love, we must be open to the leading of the Holyspirit, we must be willing to yield to Him either it is convenient or not. Yielding to the Holyspirit is His way of remoulding us to make us as perfect as God is perfect.
"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." 1 John 4:7-8 NIV
He that do not love is not of God because God is love. Perfect love reside in a believer because God has given us His own divine nature, knowing that God is love, being a worthy habitation of God and being the carriers of God's divine character, love, we have been given divine ability to express perfect love towards all. Remember, it takes God to love.
