SPIRIT FOOD (THE BREAD OF LIFE)
Food in the natural realm is very essential. It is important for growth, sustenance, freshness, energy production, repair of body tissues, etc.
Food basically can be classified as solid food and liquid food, and but are essential for the sustenance of life. You don't eat the solid food without water else, you will choke, and you don't drink water without food, else, you will be empty or malnourished. The water helps to digest the food so it can carry out its functions in the body properly.
As the natural food is essential to the natural being (the body), so is the spiritual food essential to the spirit being (the spirit). The spirit food is important for spiritual growth, generation of spiritual energy, increasing spiritual sensitivity, discovery and development of spiritual gifts, sustenance of the spiritual life (like the prayer life, fasting and other spiritual exercise), and many more. The spirit Food is also majorly classified into two;
1. The bread of Life
2. The Living water
THE BREAD OF LIFE
Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry ..." John 6:35 NIV
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." John 1:1, 4, 14 KJV
From the passages above, we can see that Jesus is the bread of life, and He is the word. The word of God is the spirit food that sustains our spirit. Jesus said whoever feeds on the word will never hunger, i.e. spiritual satisfaction. That is, the spirit will be equipped with every virtue that God has purposed for it.
When a life is starved of the word of God, it becomes dull (as in sensitivity), malnourished, unstable/immature (i.e easy to fall when temptation arises), spiritual exercise becomes boring, the flesh begins to subdue the spirit, faith (a virtue of the spirit) will diminish etc, but when the spirit man is continually fed with the word of God, a high level of maturity or stability is attained, such spirit will not lack any of its virtues needed to manifest the supernatural.
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." 2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV
The word of God is the manual of the new life in Christ Jesus. The more we study, the more the word corrects, instruct and keep us in other, until we become perfect. The word of God sanctifies, purges us from all works of the flesh, giving us total victory over the flesh. Studying the word gives us power over sin and its lust.
"Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." Psalms 119:11 KJV
The more we study the word, the more we know God, the more we love and fear Him, this make it difficult for us to disobey him.
The word of God which is the sword of the spirit is a weapon of warfare. When we pray with the word of God, there shall be testimonies because we are praying according to the will of God i.e we are praying out what God Himself has promised.
Fill your self with the revelation of the word today and your life will be completely transformed.
