TOUCH NOT THE ANOINTED
TOUCH
NOT THE ANOINTED
It
is a very serious offense against the Lord to lay hands on the one He has anointed,
David was a man that was so conscious of this fact all through his life.
9 He said to Saul, "Why do you listen when men
say, 'David is bent on harming you'? 10 This day you have seen with
your own eyes how the LORD delivered you into my hands in the cave. Some urged
me to kill you, but I spared you; I said, 'I will not lift my hand against my
master, because he is the LORD's anointed.” 1 Sam 24:9-10 NIV
Even
when Saul was so obsessed with killing David, David had a good opportunity to
kill Saul, to be free from running about for safety and take the throne he was
anointed for once and for all, but he wouldn’t dare touch the anointed of God. Even
when Saul has been rejected by God, David wouldn’t dare to kill him.
“6
I happened to be on Mount Gilboa," the young man said, "and there was
Saul, leaning on his spear, with the chariots and riders almost upon him. 7
When he turned around and saw me, he called out to me, and I said, 'What can I
do?' 9 "Then he said to me, 'Stand over me and kill me! I am in
the throes of death, but I'm still alive.' 10 "So I stood over
him and killed him, because I knew that after he had fallen he could not
survive. And I took the crown that was on his head and the band on his arm and
have brought them here to my lord." 14 David asked him, "Why were
you not afraid to lift your hand to destroy the LORD's anointed?" 15 Then David called one of his
men and said, "Go, strike him down!" So he struck him down, and he
died. 16 For David had said to him, "Your blood be on your own head. Your
own mouth testified against you when you said, 'I killed the LORD's
anointed.'" 2
Sam 1:6,7,9,10,14,15 NIV
Saul
was so wounded that he couldn’t have survived, then he asked an
Amelekite to
kill him which the amelekite did because he was in pains and couldn’t
have
survived, bringing the crown and royal bracelet to David, David was
furious for killing the Lord's anointed and he smote him Dead.
David
knew it was a disrespectful act towards God to lay hands on the anointed, even when the anointed has been rejected by
God, only God has the power to lay judgment on His anointed.
Even the Lions in the den wouldn't touch Daniel because he was God's anointed
Do
you know by persecuting, gossiping, backbiting making jest or rebelling against
the anointed of God, you are laying hands on God anointed and God frowns
at it?
In Numbers 16, Korah, Datham
and Abiram gathered men to rebelled against Moses and God made the ground open
up and swallowed them up with their house and all that pertains to them.
When
you provoke a man of God to the extent of him saying, ‘If only God has sent me’, trust me, you have indeed called for God’s
wrath.
“If
these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the
visitation of all men; then the LORD hath not sent me.” Num 16:29 KJV
Whoever
the anointed is to you, be it your husband, wife, younger sibling, son or
daughter, a far younger fellow, a lesser educated person, you must give regards
to God’s anointing upon him/her. Don’t allow over-familiarity to make you call
upon God’s wrath upon yourself.
In Numbers 13, Miriam and Aaron
spoke against Moses (their younger brother) and God made leprosy come upon
Miriam, she would’ve died in leprosy if not that Moses cried to God for mercy
on her behalf.
13 So Moses cried out to the LORD, "O God, please
heal her!" 14 The LORD replied to Moses, "If her father
had spit in her face, would she not have been in disgrace for seven days?
Confine her outside the camp for seven days; after that she can be brought
back." Num 12:13-14 NIV
If
a spiritual head is taking advantage of his/her position in an ungodly manner,
there should be an ordered and godly route through which the issue should be channeled
to those in high spiritual authority as laid down by the mission
Don’t
take the place of God to scold his anointed. It comes with terrible consequences.
………GOD BLESS YOU
