GO EXTRA MILE
GO EXTRA MILE
"A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way. When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” Luke 19:2-5 NIV
Zacchaeus, being a short man didn't allow his shortcomings to discourage him, he was determined to see Jesus, even with the fact that the crowd following Jesus was much, Zacchaeus wasn't discouraged, he didnt just hang around, he went extra mile, he climbed a tree to see Jesus. All he wanted is just to see this particular Jesus he has been hearing about, but he received more, he received a visitation from the Lord.
That day, salvation came to his house, he only wanted to see Jesus but because he went extra mile, he didn't only see, he received Jesus into his house as a guest. That day, he encountered salvation, that day, he was justified.
"Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham." Luke 19:9 NIV
Imagine, if he hadn't climbed the tree, imagine if he was just standing by, imagine if he had allowed his height to discourage him, he would have missed that opportunity, but he went extra mile.
Sometimes all God is waiting for is a push from us, for us to go extra mile, a little stretch, a little sacrifice, to seek the Lord, we must seek him diligently, we must seek him whole heartedly, earnestly.
"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." Hebrews 11:6 KJV
we must go extra mile that the normal. When you go extra mile to seek God, He will go extra mile to reveal Himself unto you.
"But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully." 2 Corinthians 9:6 KJV
The blind man at the road side, on hearing that Jesus was passing by, knew his time has come if only Jesus could attend to him.
"He called out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord, I want to see,” he replied. Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.” Luke 18:38-42 NIV
Even when people rebuked him and told him to be silent, he cried to Jesus louder, he was desperate for Jesus' attention. He knew once he can get Jesus attention, that was it. He cried and cried until Jesus heard him, and that day he received his sight. Not just his sight, he stopped being a better, he became a follower of Christ and the people glorified God through him.
"Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God." Luke 18:43 NIV
Sometimes, you have to look beyond your situation, many people will discourage you, even you own people, even your fellow brethren, but do not be discouraged, seek God diligently.
Go extra mile for God, in faith, in your service to him, in commitment, in holiness and faithfulness, in love toward other people, in giving, in your pursuit to fulfil purpose, in prayers and supplications, in studying to know him more, seek Him diligently and you will find him.
...........GOD BLESS YOU
