SPIRIT FOOD (THE LIVING WATER)
SPIRIT FOOD (THE LIVING WATER)
In the previous lesson, we discussed the importance of the natural food to the natural body, the types of natural and spirit food, and the importance of the bread of life. In this lesson, we will be looking at the second type of spirit food which is the Living water.
Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”John 4:10 NIV
In the passage above, we can see that Jesus describe himself not as the living water but as the giver of the living water. So we can conclude from the last lesson that Jesus is the bread of life and the giver of the living water (but not the living water)
Just like the natural water aids the digestion of the solid food, the living water which is the Holy spirit aids the digestion, assimilation, revelation, meditation of the bread of life i.e. word of God.
"But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
John 16:13 NIV"
The holy spirit guides us into the truth, He reveals unto us the deep secrets in the word of God, He teaches us the word and give us a better understanding of whom Jesus Christ (the word of God) is. He also reveal unto us the things to come.
"But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life." John 4:14 KJV
The holy spirit is the Living water that quenches every of our spiritual thirst, thirst for righteousness and holiness, thirst for supernatural gifts, thirst for power and exploit, thirst for the supernatural etc.
Through Faith in Jesus (the word of God) we are saved and given everlasting life, but by the Holy spirit (the Living water), this everlasting life is being manifested.
Whatsoever we receive through the word of God can only be manifested by the Holy spirit.
"In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)" John 7:37-39 KJV
Here, the scripture confirms that the living water is the Holy spirit. In the previous passage, Jesus said, whosoever drink of the living water, in him shall be a well of water. But here, Jesus said, out of him shall flow rivers of living water. When we get filled with the Holy spirit, we begin to overflow unto the lives of other through impartation, miracles, signs and wonders. The Holy spirit is the powerhouse of God, He is the giver of all spiritual gifts. A carrier of the Spirit of God overflows in anointing as we see in the life of Apostle Paul.
"So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them." Acts 19:12 KJV
That is the level of overflowing of anointing, out of him, handkerchiefs and aprons were taking and once they touch the sick, they get healed. Our of him was flowing rivers of living waters.
Just like the water aids the digestion of solid food, The Holy spirit aids the manifestation of the word of God and every benefit it brings. When the word says, 'you shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover', the Holyspirit is incharge of bringing it into manifestation. Desire the Spirit food, desire the bread of Life, desire the Living water and out of you indeed shall flow rivers of living water.
"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." Acts 1:8 KJV
