THE MANTLE OF POWER PART 2
THE MANTLE OF
POWER PART 2 (2 Kings 2 : 1 - 22)
In
the previous part, we looked at the attributes of Elisha that made him received
what he desired; He was persistently hungry for it, he rent his old garment, he
made request and he believed in the mantle he received.
In
this part of the series, we will be studying the benefits of the mantle of
power to Elisha and to believers at large.
From
the bible text (2 Kings 2 : 1 – 22), we can deduce the following;
·
IN
VERSE 14;
“Then
he took the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and struck the water,
and said, "Where is the LORD God of Elijah?" And when he also had
struck the water, it was divided this way and that; and Elisha crossed over”
2
Kings 2:14 NKJV
The
river Jordan represent an hindrance between Elisha and his
destiny after receiving the mantle. Jordan was before him a stumbling block he
had to cross over. With the mantle of power he had received, Jordan parted for
him to cross over.
When
you have the mantle of power, every hindrances
and stumbling blocks on your way to fulfilling destiny will make way for
you, when you have the anointing of the Holyghost upon you, every yoke in your
life will be broken. I pray every yoke in your life is broken in the name of
Jesus.
“And
it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off
thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed
because of the anointing” Isa 10:27 KJV
·
IN
VERSE 15;
“Now
when the sons of the prophets who were from Jericho saw him, they said,
"The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha." And they came to meet him,
and bowed to the ground before him” 2 Kings 2:15 NKJV
The
sons of prophets that mocked him for the imminent departure of his
master came to bow themselves to the ground before him. When the mantle of
power comes upon you, those that have mocked you in the past will be the ones
serving you. The will be the ones advertising your glory Where you have been
looked down upon, I pray for you in the
name of Jesus Christ, you shall be celebrated.
Elisha
did not have to advertise himself, the mantle of power was evident over his
life. Desire the mantle, and your enemies will fall before you.
·
FROM
VERSE 19 TO 22;
“Then
the men of the city said to Elisha,"Please notice, the situation of this
city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the ground
barren."And he said,"Bring me a new bowl, and put salt in it."So
they brought it to him. Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast
in the salt there, and said,"Thus says the LORD:'I have healed this water;
from it there shall be no more death or barrenness 'So the water remains healed
to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke”2 Kings 2:19-22
NKJV
Elisha
became a blessing to an entire city. The water was bad and the ground was
barren, but by the mantle of power upon Elisha, the water was healed and the
ground became fruitful.
When
the mantle of power comes upon you, you will be a blessing unto nations, you
will be a problem solver.
·
ELISHA
WAS DIVINELY PROMOTED
He
left ‘a servant’ and came back ‘a master’, he left a ‘victim of mockery’ but
came back a ‘candidate of honour’. He
became a wonder to his generation. Even after his death, his bones raised up
the dead. When the mantle of power comes
upon you, you will be a sign and wonder in your generation.
The
mantle of power is a gift from Jesus to all his faithful disciples, Jesus is
our own Elijah. He promised us the mantle of power so we could do greater
things than he did.
“And
I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may
abide with you for ever; But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the
Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all
things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” John 14:16,26 KJV
“But
ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye
shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in
Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Acts 1:8 KJV
“Verily,
verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he
do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”
John 14:12 KJV
Why
not desire to be extraordinary. If you thirst for it, you will receive it and be
filled till you overflow.
……………….
GOD BLESS YOU
