WHILE MEN SLEPT

One of the costly mistakes believer make that gives the devil advantage over them is being ignorant of his tricks.

"Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices" 2 Cor. 2:11 KJV

For you not be a victim of the enemy, you must know how he operates. Ignorance to the devil's mode of operation gives him advantage over our lives.

^"24 Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. ²⁵ But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. ²⁶ When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.
²⁷ “The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’ ²⁸ “‘An enemy did this,’ he replied......" Matt. 13:24-28 NIV

From the passage above, we can see that whenever a believer sow a good seed, enemies wait till he is asleep to sow weeds, when the weeds grow, they form thorns which choke the good seed.

There are several ways believer sow good seed, this includes:

·        Praying fervently (with a great faith and expectations)

·        Giving/Helping the needy

·        Obeying God’s principles like paying tithe, rendering services to God wholeheartedly

·        Studying God’s word

·        Evangelizing (Preaching God’s word) and so on

But the enemy will wait until such believers are asleep, Being asleep doesn’t only refer to as the physical sleep, we can also be asleep spiritually i.e. when we lose focus on spiritual things, when we allow sin like lust, anger, gossip, malice, hatred or any kind of worldly affection take a place in our hearts. These works of the flesh open our lives for the enemy to enter because any one that does these things is calling for God’s anger.

“⁵ Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. ⁶ Because of these, the wrath of God is coming” Col. 3:5-6 NIV

So whenever a believer give in to these works of the flesh, the enemy comes in and sow evil seeds which germinates to form problems, strongholds and afflictions like sicknesses, stagnancy, demonic oppression and possession, poverty, frustration and depression, evil ties/covenants etc.

“Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.”Ps. 107:17 KJV

These evil seeds choke up the expected reward or result of the good works of a believer making God seem to be an unfaithful God.

God is ever faithful even when we are not faithful to him.

ACTION POINTS

”Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” 1 Peter 5:8 KJV

"Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." Matt. 26:41 NIV

Don’t just pray alone, also be watchful, so you won’t fall into trap, and also seek for the help of the Holyspirit, he is the promised helper, only Him can help us in the time of need.
