SUCCEEDED OR REPLACED

SUCCEEDED OR REPLACED

There are two categories of people that takes the mantle from a person. They can either be successors or replacements.
A successor is someone that takes the mantle from a person that has done excellently well, fulfilled his purpose which he is called for or completed his tenure successfully.

"As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind. Elisha then picked up Elijah’s cloak that had fallen from him and went back and stood on the bank of the Jordan." 2 Kings 2:11‭, ‬13 NIV

From the passage above, Elijah finished so gloriously that he was caught up into heaven and was succeeded by Elisha having been impacted with the double portion of Elijah's spirit.

A replacement is someone called to take the position of someone that has failed or rejected in the area of calling.

"The Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king.”
1 Samuel 16:1 NIV

We could see that Saul was rejected by God (who had first anointed him) and appointed a replacement who God found to be a man after His heart.
Saul's ego and disobedience led to his rejection. Though he obeyed God by going after the Amelekites, but he disobeyed God by sparing the Amelekites' king and keeping the best of the cattle and the sheep when God instructed him to destroy all. (That wasn't king Saul's only recorded disobedience towards God)

When God gives instructions, He expects his children to obey totally without waving to the left or right.

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go."
Joshua 1:7 NIV

Partial Obedience is as deadly as disobedience. Complete obedience is the key to finishing gloriously in God's purpose and calling.

Do you want to be replaced or succeeded, the choice is in your hands. If you will obey the Lord your God totally and serve him with all your heart GIVING HIM ALL THE GLORY, you will finish gloriously, but if you act wiser than God, claiming God's glory to yourself, disregarding God when it matters, trust me! God is moulding a replacement already.

Give God his place and he will never depart from you.

...........GOD BLESS YOU
