THE DEVIL COMETH
THE DEVIL COMETH
"Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me." John 14:30 KJV
For every believer, there will always be a moment when the devil will come to see what you are made up of, to test you stand with God and to test the level of the revelation of God's word you have in you. But when he comes, will you be standing, shaking or fallen? WILL HE HAVE SOMETHING OF HIM IN YOU?
Are you a believer, filled with the Holyspirit, saturated with power, thinking the devil cannot come to you?
Jesus was full of the Holyspirit, haven faster and prayed for forty days and forty nights, filled with limitless power being the son of God, still the devil came into him.
Analysing the temptation of Jesus, the devil exploited every canal/worldly man's supposed weaknesses;
- THE LUST OF THE FLESH
- THE LUST OF THE EYE
- THE PRIDE OF LIFE
"For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world" 1 John 2:16
1. The devil tempted Jesus with food because He was indeed hungry
"After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry."
Matthew 4:2 NIV
Jesus already fasted for forty days, he might just decided to break, but Jesus understood the temptation wasn't really about the bread, but submitting to the devil's counsel just like Adam and Eve did in the garden of Eden. But the devil exploited the fact that Jesus was hungry and used that as an opportunity (LUST OF THE FLESH).
Jesus had disciplined himself to listen to God rather than listening to his flesh. Have you?
2. The devil tempted Jesus with pride
“If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: “ ‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’ ” Matthew 4:6 NIV
Imagine the devil using the Word to tempt the Word. A canal man would have been filled with ego and pride of being the son of God and jumped just to prove to the devil that he has angels at his disposal (THE PRIDE OF LIFE). The devil would've tricked him to break the commandment of God and would've sinned giving the devil authority over Him.
"He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning...." 1 John 3:8 KJV
But Jesus prevailed because he was filled with the revelation of the Word and he was not ignorant of the tricks of the devil. Are you?
3. The devil tempted Jesus with the List of the eye
"Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me." Matthew 4:8-9 KJV
The devil now made it glaring that he wanted Jesus to submit to him. A canal man would've been carried away with the sight of the present and missed out on the future glory. The devil promised the power and glory on earth but Jesus having been victorious received all powers both in heaven and on earth.
"And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth." Matthew 28:18 KJV
When the devil comes to you, will he have something of his (lust of the flesh, lust if the eye, pride of life) in you? Check yourself.
.........GOD BLESS YOU
