WILDERNESS; A TRAINING GROUND UNTO GREATNESS

WILDERNESS; A TRAINING GROUND UNTO GREATNESS

In this study, we are going to look at why children of God have to pass through the wilderness before the could fulfill destiny for God.

"When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, “If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” So God led the people around by the desert road toward the Red Sea. The Israelites went up out of Egypt ready for battle." Exodus 13:17‭-‬18 NIV

God didn't lead the children of Israel through the Philistine country, though it was shorter to the promised land but they might change their mind because of war and go back to Egypt, so God led them through the wilderness of the red sea.

God do not lead man to the promised land through the shorter route or the 'city', he always lead a man through the wilderness. A wilderness is an empty area, a place of dryness, full of challenges, lack of enough provision etc, if God decide to take men through the 'city' i.e. through abundance of wealth, enjoyment, etc, they would be easily distracted and when temptation comes, might turn away and follow after worldly things and material possessions.

So God choose to leads us through the wilderness in our journey to fulfilling destiny so we would learn to subdue the flesh, deal with the lust of the eye, lust of the flesh and pride of life so that when we finally get to the promise land, we would've acquired all the virtues we need to please God and shun the world.

"These are the nations the Lord left to test all those Israelites who had not experienced any of the wars in Canaan (he did this only to teach warfare to the descendants of the Israelites who had not had previous battle experience)" Judges 3:1‭-‬2 NIV

When God delivered many nations into the hands of the Israelites, He intentionally left out some nations because he needed those nations to rise up against the Israelites so as to teach the Israelites warfare (especially the newer generations). There are many believers today who wouldn't have become prayer warriors if not for the challenges of life, there are people who wouldn't have submitted to the Lordship of Jesus if not for one problem or the other.

Sometimes, God uses hard times to teach us obedience and humility.

"Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;  And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him" Hebrews 5:8‭-‬9 KJV

Our Lord Jesus Christ as a man had to learn obedience by the things he suffered and was made perfect. He became the source of eternal life to the whole world as much as will obey him.
Hard times are sometimes a training ground for believers to learn one or two things to make us perfect in order to fulfil the purpose of God for our lives.

Beloved, don't give up, the hard times is almost over, those times that it seem nothing is working is almost over. Don't give up on God, the night is almost over.

"...weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning" Psalms 30:5 KJV

             ..... GOD BLESS YOU
