FLOWING WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT
It is something to have the holy spirit in you, it is another thing to flow with the Holy spirit in you.
Imagine a person that has a huge amount of money in his possession and still living a lifestyle of abject poverty. The Holy spirit is LIMITLESS in power, but His influence and manifestation can be limited by the carrier. The Holy spirit is so gentle that He needs our cooperation before he uses us for the miraculous, we must give Him that place if we want to see Him in action, we must flow with him.
The key to flowing with the holy spirit is YIELDING. To yield to the Holy spirit means to submit to His will. Submitting to His will means submitting to God's will because He gives us instructions from God.
"But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come." John 16:13 NIV
'To yield' mean to allow the Holy spirit use us and not the other way round. Many times we contend with the leading of the Holy spirit, we believe our opinion sound better, Saul did the same thing and was rejected. We have to allow the Holy spirit to do the leading while be follow.
"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." Romans 8:14 KJV
As children of God, we must be willing to be led and completely submit to the leading of the Holy spirit. Leading consist of two entity, 'the one leading' and 'the one led',there must be a positive agreement between these two before a leading can be successful. For the Holy spirit to manifest all His works in us, for Him to completely transform us, we must yield to him.
"And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption." Ephesians 4:30 KJV
GRIEVE NOT THE HOLY SPIRIT. One of the ways we can grieve the Holy spirit is when we reject His leading (his counsel, his instructions), we make Him feel irrelevant to our day to day activities, even in our ministries. Many ministers have denied their followers from God's divine intervention because the didn't yield to the leading of the Holy spirit. For instance, when a minister believes a thanksgiving sermon is appropriate for a particular period of the year but the Holy spirit is leading Him to minister on Healing because there is a life attached to that sermon on healing, an insensitive or unyielding minister may ignore the leading of the spirit at that moment because he believes thanksgiving is the right sermon for such times, thereby depriving the beneficiaries of the spirit-led ministration of their testimonies.
HOW TO TRAIN OUR SPIRIT TO YIELD TO THE HOLY SPIRIT
- Study and meditate on the word of God
- Train yourself to obey the word of God ( this gives you the 'consciousness of yielding', that mindset of totally dependence on God
- Having renewed your mind with the word of God, learn to obey the voice of the spirit instantly without contemplating or arguing.
- Praying in the spirit always. This helps us to edify (build our spirit, making it more sensitive to the Holy spirit)
"He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself ..." 1 Corinthians 14:4 KJV
When we yield to the Holy spirit, we make our lives comfortable and accommodating for Him to manifest Himself mightily and Limitlessly, as a result, transforming us completely into a sign and a wonder to our generation. Let Him lead, once He trusts you, you automatically have access to the power house of God.
