WALKING IN HOLINESS
"And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the Lord am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine." Leviticus 20:26 KJV
God's divine mandate for his children is Holiness. It is the desire of every responsible father that the children be like them, if not greater. So as children of God, God's expectation for us is to live a life of Holiness just like He is holy.
"Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world." 1 John 4:17 KJV
We are the true reflection of God's glory on earth because He has created us in His own image, after the likeness of His holiness. Though sin made up fall short from the beginning, but thank God for our Lord Jesus Christ for reconciling us back to the Father and granting us the grace to be exactly as He is.
Children of God are mandated to be Holy within and without (i.e. internally and externally). Internal holiness focus on the state of the heart (or mind) while external holiness focus on our utterances, appearance and actions.
"Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord ? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully." Psalms 24:3-4 KJV
Holiness gives us access to the presence of God. For us to be able to stand in His holy presence, we must be holy internally (i.e. have a pure heart) and externally (i.e. have clean hands). The prayer of the unholy is an abomination unto God, because his heart and hands are not right with God.
Holiness isn't limited to the heart or mind as some people preach, such teachings are from the pit of hell. You can't be pure in heart and be filthy in your appearance.
"Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." Matthew 7:17-20 KJV
You are the product of the state of your heart (or mind). So you can never be pure in heart and be filthy or unclean in appearance. Your appearance is the product of the kind of mind your have. It is the fruits you bear, that's who you are. If you are seductive in your dressing, that is the state of your heart, if you are vulgar or a pervert at speech, that is the state of your heart, because it is out of the abundance of your heart that your mouth speaks.
"A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things." Matthew 12:35 KJV
Holiness starts from the heart (or mind). The state of your heart influence your whole life. So put your heart in order and your whole life will be in order. Believers, we are encouraged to guard our hearts jealously, because our hearts controls our lives.
"Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." Proverbs 4:23 KJV
Have you fallen short of the standard of Holiness? Have you been impure in your heart, Ungodly in your speech or appearance? Are you impure in your actions? Why not come back to Jesus and He will wash away your impurities with His blood. There are many souls in hell who would sacrifice anything for a second chance, but there is no second chance for the dead. There is still hope for you, remember, no impure thing will enter the kingdom of heaven.
"Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life." Revelation 21:27 NIV
