OUT OF DEEP WATERS
“He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me." 2 Samuel 22:17-18 NIV
IN THE PASSAGE ABOVE, deep waters is an idiomatic expression that means a dangerous situation, a serious situation that is very difficult even beyond the level of one's ability, it means trouble , and overwhelming problem that render one helpless and hopeless.
When you are on land, it is still possible for you to control yourself, you can still stand, walk, run, sit or hold unto something, but in water, it is almost impossible because you loose control of yourselves, your navigation totally depends on the direction of flow of the water.
So deep waters is likened unto an overwhelming difficult situation that makes one loose control and become helpless which may include sickness, struggling, hardship/poverty, demonic oppression, barrenness, dryness or unproductivity, spiritual battles and many more. In that situation, there is a desperate need of an external influence to pull one out of that deep water. That is where God comes in. There is a need for God to stretch out His mighty hand and pull you out of that overwhelming problem, If only you can call on him.
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze." Isaiah 43:2 NIV
When you pass through the waters, He is there with you, in that challenge, He is right there with you, If only you can call unto Him with the whole of your heart. Even when it seem He isn't there, trust me, God is right there with you waiting for you to call for Help, A call of desperation is a true call for help.
"and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.” Psalm 50:15 NIV
