COMPONENTS OF UNFRUITFUL GIVING (3)

COMPONENTS OF UNFRUITFUL GIVING (3)

3. The ground

Having studied how the sower and the quality of the seed affects the quality of harvest, Let us now look at how the fertility of the ground may affect the quality of affect.

Wisdom demands that a farmer that desires a bountiful harvest will sow his seeds on a fertile ground. The same is applicable to giving, Possible fertile soil one can choose to sow include:

THE POOR:

When you give unto the rich with the intention of receiving more from him or you give so you can benefit one way or the other from the same source, that is not a cheerful giving but rather, a business transaction. Such is not accepted by God, but when show kind gestures to those that are really in need without an ulterior motive, when you give unto those that have no hope of repaying you, our Father in heaven will repay you in many folds.

"Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them." Acts 9:39 NIV

On the death bed, the good deeds of Dorcas spoke for her. She was a very hospitable and accommodating woman. She clothed the widow and showed many good deeds to the poor, and on the death bed, she was raised up by the power of God through the Apostle. She helped the poor and God rewarded her.

THE SERVANTS OF GOD:

Although there has been a lot of controversies concerning this but the servants of God still remain a valid fertile ground for sowing.

She said to her husband, “I know that this man who often comes our way is a holy man of God. Let’s make a small room on the roof and put in it a bed and a table, a chair and a lamp for him. Then he can stay there whenever he comes to us.” 2 Kings 4:9‭-‬10 NIV

This is the story of the Shunammite woman, she made it a duty to always feed and accommodate the prophet whenever he goes to Shunem. She was consistent with her pledge and one day, the favour of God located her, she that had no son conceived and bore a son. When you honour a servant of God, you are honouring God, and whoever honours God, God honours.

THE HOUSE OF GOD:

“Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. “But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’ “In tithes and offerings. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. Malachi 3:8‭, ‬10 NIV

God has made the promise, honour him your tithe and offering and expect an avalanche of blessing, as far as it done in obedience to the laid down principles in the scripture. This conclude the series.

                                  .........GOD BLESS YOU
