DANGER OF OVERFAMILIARITY
Many have missed out on their miracles and various divine blessings all because they disregarded the vessel God intended to us at that particular time due to overfamiliarity with the vessel.
They refused to receive the vessel of God because of how familiar they have been with him/her, being their kinsman, sibling, parent, neighbours, many even saw him growing up or even attended his naming ceremony. Because of this, their heart became hardened.
“Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother’s name Mary, and aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas? Aren’t all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?” And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town and in his own home.” And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith." Matthew 13:55-58 NIV
Even our Lord Jesus Christ couldn't perform many miracles in his own hometown because of the unbelief of the people due to their overfamiliarity with him, they knew when he was born, they saw him growing up, they knew his parents and siblings, so they were thinking he got the powers from some dark means, they couldn't receive him as the Christ because they knew all about him, by this , the people missed out on many miracles they should've received. No wonder Jesus said a prophet is not known in his own home.
"Whoever welcomes a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever welcomes a righteous person as a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward." Matthew 10:41 NIV
When you receive the vessel God intended to use for your breakthrough, you will definitely receive the reward, when you receive the vessel, you receive the God that dwells in him, when you reject or disregard the vessel, you reject or disregard the God that dwells in him.
"He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me." Matthew 10:40 KJV
God can use any of his children to minister unto you, He can use your younger one, your child, your friend, your spouse, your spiritual subordinate, even someone you used to know as a sinner, believers have to be sensitive to the dealings of God so they can descern what God has purposed to do at every particular time. Don't let familiarity rob you of the miracle you have been looking up to God for, receive the vessel of God and you will receive the God that sent him. But don't forget to test all spirit and be sure it is of God.
"Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world." 1 John 4:1 KJV
