HUMILITY; THE ROUTE TO GREATNESS
"Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time" 1 Peter 5:6 KJV
There is a due time for promotion, but you have to wait for it with humility. No humility, no promotion. The way up is down. Look at a seed, it grows and becomes a huge trees, but before it does that, it goes into the ground, dies, decays, then starts to germinate then grows into a huge tree with eye-catching fruits.
"And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted." Matthew 23:12 KJV
To be abased means to be lowered (especially in rank), i.e. to be demoted. One mistake that most believers make is that due to their desperate hunger to be celebrated, they do all within their power to exalt themselves, but the word of God said that whoever exalt himself will be demoted or reduced.
The time you are spending advertising yourself is the time you supposed to spend paying the price for greatness and serving God with humility. If only you will submit yourself to God, and allow him to exalt you, when God lift you up, nothing can bring you down.
"In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” 1 Peter 5:5 NIV
"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves," Philippians 2:3 NIV
Humility is not a sign of weakness but an evidence of love. The human nature always wants to be above everyone else, to be served and celebrated, but it takes love to submit to others. Humility is an evidence that you are dwelling in love.
Remember, those who do not dwell in love do not know God because God is love.
