SECRET TO MARITAL EXCELLENCE
One of the major causes of marital failure is the refusal of spouses to humbly accepted their roles as revealed in the word of God.
There are many books and teachings about marriage but the bible is the most trusted counsel when it comes to marriage. God is the founder of marriage and the only way to know His will for marriage and how it should be approached to get the desirable result is by studying the scripture. Every book and teachings must take their reference from the word of God.
God created man and woman specially and endow them with virtues and gifts specific to each of them so as to facilitate carrying out their roles in marriage, this means an exchange in roles might not result in the perfection God has ordained or created in marriage. When each spouse accept their roles and use their God-given gifts and endowments as purposed by God, then marital bliss can be guaranteed.
"And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him." Genesis 2:18 KJV
A 'help meet for him' means a helper compatible with him. Among the animals, there was none that have what it takes to meet all the physical, psychological, emotional, mental, spiritual needs of man, so God created eve specially by himself and endowed her with wonderful virtues which will enable her to meet the needs of the man.
Women are more or less one of God's way in solving a man's problems, because that is what they are created for. If only some men would let go of their ego and listen to their wives, many wouldn't have ran into the problems they found themselves in. God specially created women and endowed them with gifts that would enable her be an helper to her husband. Men, it is when you make your woman happy that she will be able to discover these wonderful gifts God has embedded in her, and use it for the your good and the good of the family.
"This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success." Joshua 1:8 KJV
This passage is also applicable to marriage, when you study and meditate on what the word of God says concerning marriage, and you humble yourself to do what is written inside it, then your marriage will be prosperous and have good success. Don't abandon your bible at home and go about from one marriage seminar to the other, many teachings on marriage have being corrupted with human knowledge and various experiences in life. Some says we are different because we are from different back ground, and what works for A might not work for B, but the fact is if we all submit ourselves to the word of God, conformity to the word of God will bring us all to a state of oneness where the word of God will be all we need.
Study the word of God so you will be able to discern teachings that are scriptural and those that are not.
