THE GIFT OF FAITH
The third group or category of the gifts of the Holy spirit is the power gifts and these include the gift of faith, the gifts of healing and the working of miracles. They are referred to as power gifts because their operation lies in the demonstration of God's power. To understand what the gift of faith means, let's first look at what faith means.
"Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality--faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses]." HEBREWS 11:1 AMP
Faith constitutes our total response to God's promises. It is not mere believing and also acting on what we believe. It is walking in the assurance of what we are hoping for as if we have received already. What our physical eyes cannot see, our faith sees, that how to live by faith, not willing to have another alternative while trust God for something i.e. total dependence on God.
"For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith." Romans 12:3 KJV
From this passage, we can see God has given every believer a measure of faith since It is through faith (in Jesus) that we are saved, so at new birth, we are given a measure of faith. It is God's expectation that we build and increase in Faith as we grow in Him, and one of the ways the bible told us to grow is through the word.
"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17 KJV
So we grow in faith by hearing, studying, meditating and obeying the word of God. We can then conclude that our level of faith is a measure of the level of the word of God we have in us.
Now, the divine grace (by the Holyspirit) to operate in a measure of faith greater than the level of the word of God in us at a particular time is what is called THE GIFT OF FAITH, or we can say operating the faith of Jesus himself. It is a divine grace to operate in a faith-level that is greater than our supposed faith-level at a particular time.
This is the gift that enable us to make declarations and decree. It enable us to decree a things and it shall be established. This gift also work in conjunction with other gifts of the Holy spirit. It also enable us to trust God for things (especially in the case of emergency), things that the level of our faith might not be able to fetch us. This is the faith of Jesus Christ Himself.
