THE GIFT OF THE WORD OF WISDOM
THE GIFT OF THE WORD OF WISDOM
Wisdom can be generally referred to as the application of relevant knowledge in an insightful way to proffer solution to a situations or problems.
So, the gift of the word of wisdom means divine ability to proffer solution to life's problems and situations by applying the knowledge given by God through the Holy spirit. This is another revelatory gift because it reveals the wisdom of God. Whoever is entrusted with this gift have access to the wisdom of God. The application of this gift includes;
- To rescue believers from the trap or snare of the ungodly, from difficult situation that only God's wisdom can bail one out.
"So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." John 8:7 KJV
Jesus was caught up in a difficult situation by the scribes and pharisees bringing a woman caught in the act of adultery unto him, he was given two option; either to set her free (so they can accuse him of disobeying the law of moses) or condemn her to death (so they can accuse him of being double mouthed; going against the law by healing on the Sabbath day and still obeying the law by condemning a woman to death). It was a difficult situation but the Holy spirit moved and a word of wisdom came forth, 'let him that is without sin cast the first stone', and one by one, the accusers left in shame. The gift of the word of wisdom rescues us from difficult situations that men has deviced to put us in trouble.
- To give divine direction and instruction
"When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Luke 5:4 NIV
Peter received a word of wisdom in form of an instruction from Jesus, After toiling all night try to catch fishes but caught nothing, Jesus gave an instruction to launch his net into the same ocean, he obeyed and he was amazed at the result. Sometimes the word of wisdom comes in a way that might seem not ideal or incoherent with the situation on ground, but once obeyed, the result is definitely a testimony.
- To reveal the will of God concerning choices paths to choose,
"Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia. When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to." Acts 16:6-7 NIV
Here, we can see the Spirit of God forbidding Paul preaching the word in Asia and Bithynia but gave him a revelation to go into Macedonia to preach the gospel. At times we foolishly make some decisions (even in our christian walk) without allowing the Holy spirit to direct, many times we have regretted our actions and choices in life, many times we have guessed and chosen a path to follow out of ignorance, if only we could patiently wait for a word of wisdom from the Holy spirit, life would've been easier and better.
.........GOD BLESS YOU
