THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE
"To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32 NIV
It is something to know the word, it is another to allow the word to set you free. In the word of God is the 'truth' which when you are given access to the revelation in it (because the scripture testifies of the TRUTH) , it brings about deliverance. But do you know its your choice to allow the word you know to either set you free or not. It is very possible to have the word bottled up in you but it not having the necessary influence it should have all over your life, THERE IS A PLACE FOR WALKING IN THE TRUTH YOU KNOW. No wonder many memorize a lot of bible verses, but still suffer from the same challenge that those exact verse are sent to deliver believer's from.
Jesus said, " If you hold unto my teachings", what does it mean to hold unto a teaching? It means to believe it, to accept it and to walk diligently in it. Either it is easy or not, staying put in His undiluted teaching, walking in it, allow it to dictate your actions, thoughts and decisions, it is then that the truth will set you free. To have knowledge is good but to apply that knowledge wisdom.
"And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper." Psalms 1:3 KJV
The righteous man shall be like a tree planted by the river side, but let us consider some facts because that is not so with all. Just like a preacher said, the source of the river never fails, it is the root of the tree that can decide not to touch the water. The potency of the word never fades, it is you that can decide not to dip your roots into the power in the word of God (the revealed Truth in the word that brings deliverance). When the fulfilment of God's promises is not visible in your life, the first thing to do is to check if your root is still firmly connected to the river of waters, because there are many tree planted by the river that are still stunted.
For you to be set free by the word, you must walk in the revelation of the word (i.e. the truth in the word revealed unto you), your whole life must agree with it, your utterances, your actions, your thoughts, your choices and decisions must agree with it, the truth must govern your whole life, your faith must call it out into manifestation, you must walk in the manifestation of that truth revealed unto you, then the truth will set you free.
"Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do EVERYTHING written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." Joshua 1:8 NIV
