GRACE ABUSED?
GRACE ABUSED?
There have risen some arguments in the body of Christ whether some things are right or not. Many have approved some acts due to the fact that we are in the dispensation of grace and not the the law. Well, that's true but do you know such grace can be abused? let's see what the scripture says.
"Be careful, however, that the exercise of your rights does not become a stumbling block to the weak." 1 Corinthians 8:9 NIV
We have to be careful so that by exercising grace, we won't be a stumbling block unto others. We should always be conscious of the weak ones or young believers. Some people believe wearing seductive and provocative dress is not bad, but have you considered what effect it will have on those struggling or those that has just been delivered from lust? Do you know publicly questioning an instruction can sow a seed of rebellion into the hearts of those looking up to you?
Many will say they don't care either people are looking at them or not, but you should care. If you indeed want to be a blessing unto your generation, then you should care, if you want to be indeed fruitful, you should care. Your character speaks so much about the God you claim to carry.
"Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother or sister to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause them to fall." 1 Corinthians 8:13 NIV
This is Apostle Paul's declaration out of love and compassion for souls that they may not perish. As believers, we are to have this same mindset, for the sake of what Jesus went through, so His death won't be in vain, so that we called to work with Him won't work against Him (voluntarily and involuntarily). If what you will eat will cause your neighbour to stumble, please don't eat it, If what you will wear will cause your neighbour to stumble, please don't wear it, If what you will say will cause your neighbour to stumble, please don't say, if what you will do will cause your neighbour to stumble, please don't do it.
“If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!" Matthew 18:6-7 NIV
Temptation will always befall a man, but don't let it come through you. The Lord seriously frown at causing another brethren to stumble. Never do anything without considering what effect it will have on your neighbour, let everything we do edify, built and encourage others in faith, our speech, our appearance, our actions, everything must be done unto edification.
"... Let all things be done unto edifying." 1 Corinthians 14:26 KJV
........ God bless you
