SUITABLE FOR THE DEVIL'S USE?
Have you ever wondered why among all the animals created by God, it was the serpent that was used to deceive man to disobey God. Why not the monkey? Why not the lion? why not the elephant?
The truth is that before the devil uses anyone for any purpose, he searches for some characters that would enable them to carry out that assignment effectively in them.
Before the devil will use you to pull down your husband's ministry, he must see some traces of ego and rebellion in you, before the devil will pull a minister down with sexual scandal, such minister must have a trace of lust in him/her not taken care of, before the devil will rope up a believer with mismanaging church funds and fraud, there is always a trace of covetousness in him/her.
"Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” Genesis 3:1 NIV
The scripture says that the serpent was more crafty than every other wild animals. There was craftiness in the serpent even before the devil decide to use it for crafty and deceptive assignment. The nature of the serpent enable the effectiveness of the devil's assignment, its nature was suitable for the devil's work, so the devil need not think too much to choose the right animal to use, the serpent was already a worthy vessel of destruction. Before the devil chooses a vessel for a terrible assignment, he searches for the traces of some characters that aligns with the assignment he has in mind.
"He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it." John 12:6 NIV
Remember the woman that anointed Jesus with an expensive perfume from an alabaster box? Judas was the disciple that rebuked her and suggested the expensive perfume be sold and help the poor. But the scripture says he didn't say that due to love for the poor but for his own selfish reason in order to enrich himself. He was in charge of the money bag, using the money to enrich himself. When the devil needed someone among the disciple to betray Jesus for money, he didn't need to think too deep, Judas was already available. It was an easy choice for the devil because Judas was already a suitable vessel to be used.
As small as a match stick is, it is capable of destroying a forest. If a foothold is not taken care of, it can grow to be a stronghold. Are there traces of ungodly character in you, are you struggling to be perfect, is there pride, lust, covetousness, anger or other works of the flesh in your life that you have refuse to deal with? Why not rededicate you life to God and prayerfully pull down every stronghold of the flesh in you.
