WHY GLORY IN VANITY?
"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight." 1 Peter 3:3-4 NIV
Why do we invest so much on the things that will one day fade away and disregard that which dictates our eternity. Many, even among believers have placed great value on material things, clothes, jewelries, elaborate hairdos, etc.
Many classify people base on their outward appearance and one way or the other become partial in how they relate with others. They tend to treat those with elaborate outlook with a level of respect while those with a low and unexpressive outlook are brushed aside. Many even boast in them such that anyone that cannot afford such elaborate lifestyle do not belong to their class and are regarded as lowlifes. This can even be found in the church today. WHY DO WE GLORY IN VANITY?.
"And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified." 1 Corinthians 2:1-2 NIV
Many times we boast in eloquence of words and revelation of histories and principles, and we are like, WHAT A POWERFUL MESSAGE! We glory in the excellency of wisdom and knowledge, prounded doctrines, brilliant quotes and mouth opening revelations. These are beautiful for sure but the question is HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE SAVED? HOW MANY CAME SICK AND OPPRESSED AND LEFT HEALED AND DELIVERED? You can pray in tongues for several hours, Oh beautiful, there is more of God you should hunger for. You preached and people marvelled, good but God desire souls not wows and cheers. Why do we take pride in things that will not last forever? Why do we glory in vanity?
The devil is really happy and rejoicing over the trend of misplaced priority among believers. We are called to take the battle to the gates of the enemy. We are saved to save others, not to showoff our skills and advertise our endowments, there must be burden for lost souls. Don't settle for mere revelation, be desperate for results. Satan's has little time and he knows it, it is time we awoke from our sleep, it is time we arose and fight the good fight of faith. JESUS IS ALMOST HERE.
