A HEARER OR A DOER?
A HEARER OR A DOER?
"For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous." Romans 2:13 NIV
The scripture above gives us a distinction on how a man judges and how God judges. For a man, as far as we are always present for bible studies, we are righteous, but to God, we have to do more, we have to obey and do what the word says. This lesson is not trying to discredit bible studies but to show that the blessing in the word of God are only for those that obey the word. It is those who obey the word that are righteous in the sight of God. Obeying the word, either it is convenient or not brings about the performance of God's word.
The word of God is filled with principles or conditions for most of the things we pray for. If only we can do our part, then God will do His. When we ignore the word and its principles and we think we can receive what we want by praying it out or by hoping for it, it will just be like a man boxing the air. It is when you do what the word says that you will get the blessing attached to it.
"And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord ? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams." 1 Samuel 15:22 KJV
Sacrifice of prayer is good, but prayer done in disobedience to God's word is an abomination according to the scripture. Imaging a wife praying for the same husband she refused to submit to, or a believer fasting and praying for prosperity while defrauding God of tithe and offering, EVERY SACRIFICE OFFERED IN DISOBEDIENCE IS AN ABOMINATION TO GOD. No wonder we have a lot of prayer warriors but only few carries the mantle of authority.
"As it is written: “God’s name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.” Romans 2:24 NIV
Many times, people quote, memorize, hear or even preach the word of God but their lives do not represent God. Our churches are now filled with unbending and unyielding Christians. Instead of their lives showing forth the glory of God and making men see the image and likeness of the God in them, their lives are now a reason for unbelievers to blaspheme God, through them, godliness and spirituality has become a subject of mockery by the heathens. These set of people might be hearers or even preachers of the word, but not doers. By doing or obeying the word, you open your heart and allow the light of the word of God to transform you and bring you to a level of conformity in which you become a perfect image and likeness of God.
When you are too proud to obey the word, then you will be humbled by circumstances of life. A man of the word is a man of power. Brethren, go back to the word of God that you have kept aside, that is where your miracle is. Be not just hearer of the word but the doer of the word, then, your life will begin to radiate the glory of God.
........GOD BLESS YOU.
