THE SNARE IN IDLENESS

THE SNARE IN IDLENESS

"And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it." Genesis 2:15 KJV

Although God gave man dominion over all He created, but He didn't just leave man to wander to and fro the earth in idleness. He gave Him a work to do. He put Adam in the garden of Eden, to dress and keep it. He gave him 'work'. God hates idleness. Yes! Even our God is never idle, He is always working.

"In his defense Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.” John 5:17 NIV

God is always working. Even Jesus testified to it. So as children of God, He expects us to do the same. In anywhere God has placed a man, there is a work ordain for him to do. For every location ordained for a man, there is an assignment attached to it. Most times, It is the success of this assignment that leads to the breakthrough that we desire.

Idleness is not found in God and shouldn't be found in anyone that professes him/herself to be a child of God. Faith coupled with idleness/lazyness is foolishness. Idleness is a snare, it is always the route that easily gives sin entrance into the life of a man. If you are sensitive enough, you will see that idleness precedes most sins men commit. Idleness weakens the defence system of man, it distracts the mind from the focus (Jesus). Instead of looking unto Jesus, the mind begins to wander and in hunger for exploration, it becomes opened to anything ungodly. It is idleness that can make a believer even consider sin for a minute. Before the devil comes to negotiate with a believer, he sends idleness before him.

"Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” Genesis 3:1 NIV

From the fall of man, we can deduce that at the moment the serpent came to eve, Adam was busy doing what he was called to do, dressing and keeping the garden, but Eve probably was out there idle (the purpose of this illustration is not to discriminate the female gender), that gave the serpent room and opportunity to engage her into discussion.  This is why it is so Paramount that men should grow spiritually with their wives. Take them along on your way to fulfilling God's mandate. One thing about the devil is that he always exploit the weaker link, he always exploits our weakness to hunt a believer down. Idleness gives Satan the upper hand.

"One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the palace. From the roof he saw a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful," 2 Samuel 11:2 NIV

During the time that kings go to war, David, instead of going to war, sent Joab and the army of israel to go on his behalf while he remain in Jerusalem. By evening, he became idle, and decided to take a stroll on the roof of the palace. There, he saw a woman taking her bath. Idleness pushed him to be tempted and that brought a curse upon is lineage. No wonder they say an idle mind is the devils workshop. Idleness is a trap, forbid it and get productive for God, yourself and those whose destiny depends on yours.

                           ..........GOD BLESS YOU
