REBUKE THE DEVIL OUTRIGHTLY
REBUKE THE DEVIL OUTRIGHTLY
"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." James 4:7 KJV
The mistake many believer make is engaging the devil in conversation or negotiation. He is very subtle and very tricky. He has been in existence even before man was made. So when it comes to being wise, man is nothing compared to him. The devil knows the deepest desire of every man, so he approaches each subtly. This is why the Bible tells us to resist the devil.
Jesus said to His disciples, “Stumbling blocks [temptations and traps set to lure one to sin] are sure to come, but woe (judgment is coming) to him through whom they come!
Luke 17:1 AMP
It is expedient that temptation will come because the devil is walking about like a roaring lion seeking whom to devour. He will always tempt man, but whenever he comes, we are not to negotiate with him. Joseph knew this quite well during his encounter with the wife of potiphar. He didn't sit down to even consider or think where the action is right or wrong, he fled for his life. Joseph would have died in prison if he had conceded to the temptation.
Abstain from every form of evil [withdraw and keep away from it]. 1 Thessalonians 5:22 AMP
It is in negotiation with the devil that he offers you more reasons to consider what he is offering. The more the conversation continues, the more he exploit your desires. Looking at the temptation of Jesus, Jesus engaged the devil in a conversation, this is what gave the devil the effontery to exploit that opportunity to tempt Jesus the more until the third time, it was until Jesus rebukes him that he fled.
Many times believers engage the devil in conversation and end up finding themselves in the same vomit they have promised never to go back into. Few moments of the devil with eve, she was drawn away from God, that which was abominable became pleasing to her eyes. Because of slackness of many to rebuke the devil, they had been drawn by the lust of their own heart and lost their glorious purpose like Samson.
Satan has nothing good to offer, he uses and disposes. He comes only to kill, steal and destroy, then go looking for the next victim. The devil presents to you the temporary pleasure that comes with sin and blinds you from the permanent destructive repercussion associated with it. The devil will surely come, when he comes, REBUKE HIM OUTRIGHTLY.
........GOD BLESS YOU
