THE COMPANY OF DELAYERS
THE COMPANY OF DELAYERS
'Now, Joshua was old, and stricken in years, and the Lord said to him,"Thou art old and stricken in years, and there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed" Joshua 13:1 KJV
Looking at the life of Joshua, he was a man of valour, a warrior, faithful servant of the Lord, Obedient and a leader. In the passage above, the Lord was speaking to Joshua, that there were still much ground to cover but Joshua was to old for the task ahead. Joshua, though a mighty warrior but was deterred by his age. If only he was younger, He would've fulfilled all he was apportioned to fulfill. He would have covered much more grounds For God, But age was not on His side. The tast required more youthful strength and agility.
Joshua has been available since childhood, he has been a part of the people of God since he was born, what could account for his inability to conquer more grounds for God in due time? Because he was dalayed.
'So the Lord's anger was kindled against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the Lord was consumed' Numbers 32:13 KJV
The children of Israelite were close to the promise land, they sent twelve spies to scout the land, upon seeing giants in the land, ten came back with evil reports saying they couldnt overtake the land but two (Caleb and Joshua) came with a good report trusting the Lord's ability to give them the land He has promised. The evil report discouraged the people of Isrealite and prevented them from going to the Land God has given them.
After all God has done for them, After the pathing of the sea, after all the manner they were fed with, after the falling down of the wall of Jericho, still they reverenced the giants in the land above God and couldnt trust Him to deliver the Land into their hands. For this, they were made to wander the wilderness for forty years until all those that disregarded God were dead except Caleb and Joshua.
Although Joshua was not part of those that brought the evil report, although His heart trusted in God and he was ready to march with the army into the land of their inheritance, yet he bore the consequences of the sins of the rest of the people. Although he didn't die, but he was delayed for forty years until he was too old to continue the work God has placed into his hand.
Do you know the circle of friends or collegues you belong has a direct influence in your fulfilment of purpose in life? Do you know the kind of people you surround yourself with have a direct impact to your speed and achievments in life. The kind of company you keep determines how far you'll go in life. A believer that surround him/herself with mockers and scorners of God and godliness will share the consequences when God's wrath comes upon them.
'Therefore, come out from among them and be separated unto God,...' II Cor. 6: 17 NIV
In your jorney, you need people of like-minds, like-faith, like-purpose and like-goal. People that will bring out the best of God in you.
...........GOD BLESS YOU
